How FoldPDF keeps files private
Other PDF sites upload your documents to their servers. FoldPDF embeds a full PDF engine (pdf-lib + pdf.js compiled to WebAssembly) into the page itself.
Your file stays put
Files are read with the browser File API into memory on your device. Nothing is transmitted — check the Network tab yourself.
Local WASM engine
pdf-lib, pdf.js and Tesseract run inside your browser sandbox. Splitting, compressing, encrypting and OCR all happen on your CPU.
Download from memory
Results are generated as local Blobs and saved straight from the browser. When you close the tab, everything is gone.

Frequently asked questions
Is FoldPDF really free?+
Yes — all 17 tools are free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no file or daily limits. Processing runs in your own browser, so it costs us nothing to serve.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
Never. Files are read with the browser File API and processed by WebAssembly on your device. You can verify it yourself: open DevTools → Network while running a tool and you will see zero file data leaving the page.
Is there a file size limit?+
No hard limit — your file just needs to fit in your device's memory, since nothing is streamed to a server. Practically every PDF that opens in your browser works here.
Does FoldPDF work offline?+
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the PDF engine (pdf-lib, pdf.js and the Tesseract OCR core) runs entirely locally. Turn off your Wi-Fi mid-task and everything still works.
Can I sign or OCR a PDF without installing software?+
Yes — draw your signature directly in the browser for the Sign tool, and OCR runs a WebAssembly build of Tesseract locally with a self-hosted English language model. No installs, no accounts, no plugins.
Which browsers are supported?+
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. The tools rely on standard web APIs (File API, Canvas, WebAssembly) that ship with every modern browser, on desktop and mobile.
What happens to my document after I'm done?+
Nothing is stored. Results are generated as in-memory Blobs and downloaded directly from your browser — when you close the tab, everything is gone. There is no server-side copy to delete.
Ready when you are
No account. No queue. No upload progress bar. Pick a tool and your PDF is processed before other sites would finish uploading.
